Sue is an intuitive and challenging Leadership and Executive Coach, whose expertise has been honed during a 30-year career spanning senior operational and head office roles with the John Lewis Partnership. 

 

Experience includes establishing and leading a geographically-diverse team to deliver leadership development, customer service and mandatory training to a 90,000-strong workforce; taking responsibility for the talent pipeline up to Executive Board level to ensure both individuals and the business realise their potential; and coaching and mentoring managers and leaders up to director level to support progression.

 

Professional, authentic and now working independently, Sue believes that energised and purposeful leaders are more effective and create high-performing teams. By encouraging fresh thinking and an opportunity to reflect, Sue works with leaders to create clarity and focus, thereby enabling them to maintain momentum and achieve personal and professional goals.

    With change a relentless constant in today’s business world, Sue works closely with individual clients, emphasising resilience throughout all stages of transition. Drawing on her intuition and experience, Sue encourages them to identify and re-evaluate their response to shifts in context, thereby deepening their thinking and promoting agility. Together, they establish new ways of maximising effectiveness and increasing output.
  • Team coaching
    How do you make exceptional teamwork the defining feature of what you do? Working alongside the leader, Sue encourages each individual to identify the role they typically play and to consider whether these behaviours are serving the team’s objectives well. Through increased awareness, team members renew expectations of themselves and their accountability to each other, leading to a step change in performance and sustainable results. Her bespoke approach starts with an in-depth discussion with the leader. One-to-one conversations, observations of the team and ongoing support are integral to success.
  • Industry and client experience
    In senior operational and head office roles, Sue has worked alongside board level directors and senior leadership teams, mitigating the impact of change management programmes, promoting the benefits of diversity and inclusion and evaluating leadership development plans. As a coach, she has worked with individuals up to director level and leaders from the retail, sports, technology, law and management consultancy sectors, as well as from small businesses.
